Hello,
is there a way to calibrate the accelerometer ? Or is it normal it isnt accurate ? According to attitude application, its about 3 degrees off the plane...

The accuracy of the accelerometer is only good to about 3 degrees. See http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=34301.

I'm going to add a Calibrate option to Attitude at some point, my initial thought was "save the values and subtract them from the current"; however better algorithms welcome :-)

Well, thanks for interest.. but the problem is in every game/app using accelerometer. For example enigma. When i put the phone on the table, the ball ends up in left down corner even its angled to the right due to camera. OS calibration would be really cool, just like with display calibration.

Yes please! =)

I get 2.2 - 2.6 degs when my N900 is on a level surface with Attitude. I also tried 'accDisplay' aka 'Accelerometer Viewer' by cpscotti and it also gives me comparable error... so the internal calibration of the accelerometer is off.

On my MacBook I can also use the accelerometer/sudden motion sensor (as a seismogrpah - very nice http://www.suitable.com/tools/seismac.html ) and the devs have created a calibration tool also, very easy and fun to use btw.

After calibration the accelerometer is quite usable (on the MacBook).

do you have any idea what you are asking when you want to calibrate couple degs to zero?
