hi there..i'm sorry if it's not the right question to ask, or whether the guide already exists..however, most of the guides i found, are either difficult to understand, or too hard for me as a newbie..

i've received some support from lunat on the uboot tutorial..and i thanked him for it..really good..however, i would also like to know if anyone else has any easy guidance in u-boot..so that we can boot into different OSes or kernels.. i'm sure many N900 users are waiting for a proper guide..

sorry all..pls don't flame me..lol

It's a good question, and i may stand corrected on this, uboot was ported/made to work on the n900 specifically to get the meego images working. Therefore was probably done by the team aiming at just that.

You may need to be more specific with the question though as far as i am aware uboot is quite a big subject (http://www.denx.de/wiki/DULG/Manual), and i have no idea how much relates to using it on the n900.

so does it mean right now, u-boot can only be configured to dual boot between maemo and meego only? not triple or quadruple boot? =) thank you noobmonkey

It was meant to boot any kind of OS, not only MeeGo.

It's extremely flexible if you start to use boot scripts or alternate OS'es implement support.

Hehe nope, i agree with keeps as he is the man that will know :P

What i meant was that any documentation at present relating to maemo will be meego orientated i assume, as the team who used it had that in mind.

Any other documentation would be u-boot generic, and you may need to understand it quite well before using it

Perhaps someone can start the wiki page for uboot & some other uboot experienced users can expand the content?

Yep, I also would like to know, how to set up a system with u-boot; which would offer menu of OS choices to boot to:
1) standard Maemo kernel
2) Maemo power-kernel
3) Meego
4) NITroid
5) Backupmenu
