is the battery accepting a charge? (intermittent flashing orange led, not solid.) if the battery died completely it may not accept charging, try another battery. (nokia 5800's are usually easier to come byto borrow one from a friend for this purpose)

if there were black and white lines on the tv, if it were me i'd try to send it back to nokia asap. Your prob sounds like its either a corrupted partition, or hardware malfunction. Did you try taking out the battery?

Also, just out of curiosity, did you overclock?

so you charged it for a few mins and then went to flash it? aren't you supposed to have at least 50% battery before flashing incase you run out of power when flashing?

I had a similar problem today, but it was during power on. I had just powered on the device and I got an SMS. I started replying to that and the screen went black. Thankfully, I restarted the device and everything came back to normal.

I think all the receivers of the N900 (gsm, wifi etc) should be shut down automatically if the battery is at critically low and similarly turned on only after the device has completely booted up.
