for install them you should use:
1. open x-terminal
2. type root or "sudo gainroot" (you need rootsh package installed)
3. type "apt-get update"
4. type "apt-get install nameOfPackage

Actually, where is one to find gdb? It's clearly rattling around somewhere (http://repository.maemo.org/pool/fremantle/free/g/gdb/), but is not in apt-cache with all the maemo and default nokia repos enabled.
