Hello,

I'm a Linux/Ubuntu newbie and tried to install the SDK 5.0 in the latest Ubuntu 9.10.

I used this description with the stable versions and did it step by step. Everything was OK until "./maemo-sdk-install_5.0.sh". After this command and some time I get this error message at the end:
Processing was halted because there were too many errors.
E: Sub-process /scratchbox/devkits/debian-etch/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
E: Unable to install maemo-sdk-dev on FREMANTLE_ARMEL target.
E: Please check the sources.list for errors.
E: Scratchbox login returned error 100.
Can somebody help me with my problem? Thx!

Hi,

it seems that there is one step missing (Step 4, same URL given byallnameswereout ). So please log out and then in again and it should work. Other possibility is to run:
Code:
$ newgrp sbox
Cheers Daniel

And did you disable VDSO?

http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation/...n#VDSO_support

The solutions provided there, won't work in Ubuntu 9.10 though. You'll have to add the vdso32=0 kernel parameter in boot options.

Have you been able to get this working yet? I am getting similar results when trying to install the maemo 5 SDK except I am getting also time outs when the script tries to get the packages and the script fails to install maemo-sdk-dev. I am using ubuntu 9.10 64-bit version. I tried what you guys suggested but without any luck so far. Here's what I get as a result from running maemo-sdk-install_5.0.sh:

Failed to fetch http://repository.maemo.org/pool/mae...+0m5_armel.deb Connection timed out [IP: 93.158.111.8 80]

E: Unable to install maemo-sdk-dev on FREMANTLE_ARMEL target.
E: Please check the sources.list for errors.
E: Scratchbox login returned error 100.

Thanks for your reply Andre,

Did you mean these two:
http://forums.internettablettalk.com...ad.php?t=33929
and
http://forums.internettablettalk.com...ad.php?t=33880

In that case I am still just trying to run the sdk installer script in order to create the targets into scratchbox. I can not try out the 99proxy solution introduced by cocayden because there is no such file on my targets. I also checked the solution provided by Flandry for the resolv.conf files and mine we're and they included the nameserver information. I ran also apt-get update inside scratchbox for both targets.

Any idea how long it usually take for the servers to go back up? At least pinging the timed out IP works fine.

I have no idea if that is a good suggestion, but I got it from reading the log you posted. Did you install an earlier version or something like that?

Thank you,
but I'm new to Linux and don't know what means "force overwriting existing targets with '-y'."

No previous installation was there: my ubuntu is fresh, running on a mac via Parallels Desktop virtual machine
