Hi All!

First post newbie here. I have been reading a lot about the N800 and now think I should get one :-) Does anyone here know when they are coming to Australia? I know the 770 never made it here, but I'm hoping the N800 will.

BTW, great site! Seems like a great community, much like the Newton's community.

To answer my own question, Nokia have sent me an email in regards to this. The N800 won't be sold in the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia.

I guess then there is no point in hanging around here What a huge disappointment. Way to go Nokia!

Try to find an online-dealer in e.g. USA. If there is none right now, there could well be one in the future. And yes, I agree with the sentiment.. Nokia doesn't make it easy to buy their tablets, I was in the same situation until very recently when Nokia direct finally added my country to the list. But there are still no local dealers, and when I was waiting for Nokia direct to get their act together I kept looking for the device in every Nokia shop I could find while travelling continental Europe. It was nowhere to be found.
Hopefully that'll change now that they've stuck an 'N' in front of the name, maybe that's an indication it will be sold wherever they sell the rest of the 'N' range. At least one can hope.

Bizarre - maybe it's a language support issue, and Australia (and NZ) gets clobbered as a result.

Not very impressive, particularly from a company of Nokias size and standing. Lavo - I hope you can get one on import. Know anyone in Europe or USA who could purchase on your behalf and ship to you?

I have a couple of friends in the US, so I can try them.

I guess it is more disappointing that the whole Asia-Pacific region is not even being considered. Nokia's response was that the N800 required testing with the networks here in Australia (I assumed the Nokia guy meant mobile/cellular). Seeing as there is no cellular component in the N800, I can't see how this is a problem. Gee, you would think they had enough time for testing when the 770 came out!

My other concern is warranty. I'm half a world away if something goes wrong, and there is a good chance Nokia might void the warranty if they find out where it is coming from.
