Router Configuration?

Hi Folks, Could someone help or give me some ideas as to how to resolve this issue please.
TalkTalk took over my broadband 2 days ago and all appeared ok.
The wireless router I had was playing up with cut outs so talk talk supplied me with what they said was a much superior wireless router.
Broadband speed was fine but what I then noticed was that although I could connect to the internet on my n900 I could not though update the weather, my emails and the apps updates.
I contacted talk talk once or twice (a hundred times may be closer) over the last 2 days and got absolutely nowhere with them. ( stay clear of talk talk.... I had to have them as they bought out my previous supplier Tiscali)
I eventually reverted back to my old wireless router and all is ok.
The old router is a basic Thompson’s st585 and the new one is a Huawei echolite hg520b

Thanks in advance to any help offered.
Or maybe advice on a router I should buy myself rather than use talktalks junk.

update: correction to router name not the hg520 as i first posted but should of said hg520b (updated above also)

Do a through search in case they re-branded your router if you don't find it here:

The router probably locks out other IPs...
