I noticed a problem, that I cannot play anything on my N900 Few days ago I could, now it does not play when it should. Nothing happens, when I try to change volume it says "Unable to perform operation"

In last days I installed and unistalled few programs:
external subtitles support
fm boost (still installed)
fm rds notify (still installed)
appwatch (still installed)
powatool (still installed)

and some more, which I do not remember.

Internet radio is not working, music player, video player nothing works, did reboot many times, nothing helps.

Any idea?
Thank you

establish internet connection (best over wifi).

open x-term and type

"sudo gainroot"
(you need "rootsh" for this command)
then
"apt-get -f install"

after these two commands try again.

which firmware are you running? PR1.1?

mhm... some lines i always run to keep my system clean are:
"apt-get autoclean" and "apt-get autoremove".
don't think that they will change anything on your situation but your problem is kind of weird... so why not try it? ^^

Yep 1.1. I did both, no change made to media player.

maybe you try to install the "extended a/v format support" (it's "erweiterte a/v formatunterstützung" in german, formerly known as "extra decoders support" i think)

I have it installed for long time already. It was working after installing extra decoders support.

then uninstall this package and the subtitles package too.
afterwards try again. (maybe reboot)

if it still doesn't work install only the decoders support.
then try again... again. ^^
