Hi all
I was researching for the last couple of days with no luck and thats the resoan i am opening a thread about the issue.
I am from Bangladesh and now a days we have many websites in Bangla but I am getting only boxes insted of fonts and also the same thing happens if I open a word file written in Bangla with Docs to go premier version. Now I need to know that - Does windows font works with N900 ? If yes, then how do I get it to work as I have lots of Bangla fonts in .ttf format. If not, then what exactly do I need to do ?

I have Openssh server and client installed on N900 and winscp installed on pc.
Any help would be great. Thanks

Place the .ttf fonts under /home/user/.fonts

Have you tried opening the file in Abiword? I'm not sure if it takes docx files, but if you convert to doc on your PC, it should do the trick. If converting files is not an option, then maybe try installing Easy Debian and then using openoffice, although be warned it does take a long time to install.

Thanks mrsellout for reply. this is not an issue about programm that opens the doc file but the fonts than doesn't show up.
Let me discribe a bit :-
Suppose you create a word file with MS Office 2007 to use as a dictionary or to raise your vocabulary collection (As I did). Then you put some words which are in English fonts and put their meanings which are in Bangla fonts (As I am a Bangladeshi). Then you put the file into your n900 (DTG Premier Installed). Then you open the file with file manager and the file does open with word to go. The English fonts shown up but the Bangla fonts shows as boxes instead of font. So thats my problem. I need a hand to get rid of the problem. Does anybody have a hand ???

I did understood your problem. I was replying under the assumption that for some reason DTG wasn't recognizing any user-installed fonts (I can't be sure because I don't use DTG), and recommended a couple of applications that should work.

I've just done a search on my system for a font that I had installed and used for my system theme, and it appears that either Plastic Theme Setup, Theme Customizer or Font Changer has moved it to the following directories:

/opt/usr/share/fonts
/home/opt/usr/share/fonts

Maybe that is why it works on my system and not yours. Try copying it to these directories and then try DTG.

If it doesn't work then we can only assume that DTG doesn't work with extra fonts. Abiword will open and display .doc files with fonts that the user has installed. Give that a try if DTG doesn't work
