Hi there I have a few questions... Just been using the N900 for 3 days and I like it....love it.....

firstly, is there an app / shortcut to quickly switch bluetooth on and off?? which I can put on the desktop.?

Secondly, Im sure I have seen a thread about this on this/another forum. I cant find it now...... The phone disconnects from my WLAN from time to time (dunno why) , but the icon stays on... everytime a page does not load, I have to disconnect and reconnect my wlan, OR switch to my 3G data..
Sometimes I switch the data and wlan off to save battery, but it comes ON after a few times... i think to sync my email..... but is there any way / an app to stop the phone using any data or wlan?? ONLY Phone calls??? or should I put the email on manual sync???

and last thing, is there any topic on here for noobs on maemo5? or linux?? I dont know ANYTHING about linux, although im a PC technician ...... Up to now, I have only installed apps from ovi store... I want to get to know the terminal etc and the structure of the os.. where it stores things!!
Which Linux for desktops is maemo most similar to???

thanks ...

I've not seen a bluetooth switcher, no. Going through the status panel is pretty quick though.

The WLAN issue I've not noticed with the N900, but I used to have it with the N800. That seemed to be related to the access point, as I only had the issue at home, not at work.

The connection popup in offline mode is a bug (there's actually a couple of bugs raised against it - one specific to the RSS widget, the other more general, though they may well be the same issue).

Maemo is based on debian, so either debian or Ubuntu would be closest - Ubuntu will be user-friendly for a beginner though. You should find some good beginner's documentation on the Ubuntu site, or google for a beginner's Linux guide (or buy a book!).

Oh right, sorry. There's a Wifi switcher and a 2G/3G switcher which you can use to enable/disable the different radios. Those are both still in extras-devel though, so there's some risk involved in using them.
