Sometimes on the go, I like to add music to the N900 and I don't have the USB cable. Every time I try to drag and drop a file through bluetooth exchange on OS X, it says operation not allowed. If I try to use to the send button, search for the file..etc, it says "Connection Error". I know this isn't a HUGE issue, but is this a known problem or is it something I'm doing wrong? tested on two Macs running the newest Snow Leopard and using OS X's default bluetooth exchange app.
I tried using Petrovich for this, but that seems like it's for sending, not receiving from a computer?

hi. I recommend you enable maemo extras in application manager (if you havent already) and install openssh-server. Also install personal IP widget, which shows the tablet's IP.

Once this is set up, you can log into the phone using something like filezilla (or any scp/sftp enabled transfer program - eg nautilus, konqueror, dolphin on linux) and drag/drop files to it either via 3g or via wlan (which is much faster than bluetooth).

A word of caution: dont connect to the tablet with username 'root'. this is dangerous and far too easy to accidentally damage the os. Rather, log in using the 'user' account. Here's how:

When you install openssh-server, it will ask you to create a password for the root account. Make it a strong password and write it down! Dont lose it! Next log into your phone from your desktop computer via ssh using putty or equivalent. You can find the ip of your tablet using the affor mensioned 'personal IP' widget. Log in using the root user and the password you just made. Now, very carefully, type this exactly at the root prompt:
Code:
passwd user
It will prompt twice for you to create a password for the user account. Once this is done, type 'exit' to exit out of the dangerous root shell.

Now you can log in using a sftp program (eg filezilla) using the 'user' account and the password you just made for it. Drag/Drop files to your /home/user/MyDocs directory on the tablet to your hearts content.

Hope this helps!

ps tip: you can also generate ssh key files so you dont have to enter your 'user' password every time you connect. An exersize for the reader.
