I think this is intended. I.e. it does not delete the messages until you disconnect just in case you want to undo the delete?

Here is my problem (and to outrule any kind of misunderstanding, this is the same procedure/setting I have been using on my E65 for 3 years and it worked great).
I am accessing my email (not gmail, but my own domain account, provider is 1and1) from my laptop as pop via outlook. I have my N900 set to imap (yes I heard people saying you should not mix it up, but that's bull since it been working like a charm on my E65). Now if I delete a message on the phone, it will still show up in outlook. If I use the webmail client from my provided to check, I will see that the messages are all striked out, but not deleted. They will all show up in outlook!!! Any suggestions.
I know that on my E65 it did the same unless I pressed manually disconnet in the email client. There is no such option on the N900 and the "send and receive" won't do the trick.
BTW. I have a similar problem with my job email. It's pop and it won't delete either.
Thanks
P.S. I love the phone, but some of these general features are really worse than on my 3 year old E65 (which I am tempted to go back to for everyday life - just for the battery life)
