The default one doesn't have the option for timer or taking more pictures automatically.

I agree a timer sounds useful. What do you mean by taking more pictures automatically?

Well you know that when you set e.g. 10 seconds, and when 10 seconds elapse, it takes e.g. 10 pictures quickly.

Probably taking pictures at some fixed interval. One reason to do this is time lapse photography. The control is known as an intervalometer and a search on intervalometer turned up the above thread.
