Sorry if my searching/googling powers have failed me, but I didn't see this question asked...

When I am playing multimedia files (MP3 through the built-in player), is there a way to have it automatically disable the screen lock? Its kind of inconvenient if I am playing music in my car or while working. I can't quickly change or pause the music, I have to enter in my passcode first (makes me swerve all over the road :-) ).

Edit: (Sorry, this should have been in the N900 forum...)

Settings, Device lock, and set an autolock period and lock code.

The purpose of a disable/lock screen is to prevent you from accidentally activating items on the desktop or even dialing numbers without your knowledge. If you don't want the screen to be locked while driving, disable the "lock screen automatically" or change the lock time in "device lock".

@shmoni8, if you are interested in locking your screen automatically, go to settings -> Display -> select "Lock screen automatically".

mhm... it's not doing it automatically but it's only three clicks away...
install "simple brightness applet" via app-manager.
after installation click on the desktop-bar and you'll see the applet with on screen-icon and five brightness-buttons. if you click on the screen-icon you get a checkbox which says "keep display on". if you check this the screen doesn't lock itself.
the applet is cool because you can set the brightness too. (imo the sensor always dims the screen too much so that it's sometimes hard to read...)

Ooh, thanks, I'll try that. A feature like "Disable screen lock while playing music" would be a nice feature to add to the media player, though!
