having a few issues.
first i installed ireco 8.0 because of supposed n900 support.
it was dropping errors then i installed the rest of the backend irreco packages in an attept to correct. but i keep getting socket connection errors.

so i started looking into qtirreco but downloads promp me with packages conflicting.... maemo 5 some xml and python.....

soooooo........ what gives.

Sounds like you're downloading a previous maemo version of irreco, as opposed to the one specially designed for the n900.

I'm new to the platform, so can't comment completely but there is a version of irreco specially for the n900 in the extras devel repository.

That's the one i use, and the main problem I'm finding is the range of the IR port, for the controller.

ctrl-shift-p will save a screenshot into your images\screenshot folder.
You can then attach the image (Paperclip in this post reply window - top row, middle).

Can do it all from your n900

download 'rootsh' from extras repo. then open xterminal. type 'sudo gainroot' hit enter. type '/etc/init.d/lirc start' hit enter. then try.

Update:

I updated my maemo 5 firmware and QTIeco now downloads/installs and appears to be functioning correctly without errors.

Sorry to hijack the thread. I was wondering can you do the /etc/init.d/lirc start on startup of the phone. I prefer irreco to qtirreco. A lot of the devices dont work for me on qt.
