hello people !

i m very new to this forum, and also know nothing about the linux, or programming in linux (or any other programing).
but i love n900. and i m willing to learn what ever is needed to fully utilize my device.
i have a suggestion for people like me.
Is is possible to have a thread just for tutorials that can teach us, about commands in xterminal etc, and how to install certtain features as debian, etc the require some expertise, in a manner that not only enable us to use the features but also help us learn how they work.

thanx

I agree that more tutorials wouldn't hurt. I think the solution for this is to improve the Maemo wiki and advertise it more.

I would recommend going through the wiki for topics that interest you. If the wiki doesn't contain what you're looking for, ask (this forum, mailing lists, irc). Maybe someone will write a wiki page about the topic in addition to answering your questions.

If you're interested in shell scripting I suggest looking at the Linux documentation project's Bash guide for beginners. Please note that Maemo is not using bash, but the basics are mostly the same. For available build-in commands in xterm type help.

If you want to write applications for Maemo I'd suggest looking into python or Qt.

You only learn by doing

no, we won't spoonfeed you because you don't even know what you want to do. we can make wiki articles better if you find something wrong/lacking/otherwise not so good content there.
