Hi,

I am on the way to buy a N900. I'm only wondering how to synchronize it with my Kontact data. Unfortunately, my bluetooth adaptor is broken, so I have to sync via USB or WLAN connection and I haven't done any handy-sync with linux before. Does anybody know a good tutorial? Or could give a short description how to begin?
I have been walking through the hole internet , lacking any good hints.

Thanx in advance.

I think here is no way to sync directly. However, you could sync to a groupware server and then access that server via Kontact.

I actually sync kontact contacts and calendar with my gmail account through Akonadi. Then I symply sync my N900 with the same gmail account through MFE.

gmail is no option for me. Thats because I want to govern my data NOT google or any other cloud service provider. The only way for me would be to set up an own little groupware server. I read about a local funambol server,but this obviously only syncs with gnomes' evolution. So up to now, I have no idea how to start with.

My KAddressbook data I simply transfered via vcard ex- and import. And I decided to use phones' calender tasks only,because the phone I always have with me, the notebook not necessarily.

Despite, it would be elegant to have a way for real syncs.

thanx for your replies so far, hopefully anybody have a good idea.

I've just inserted a request to support syncing on the KDE Brainstorm forum. If you like it to get more attention, go vote for it.

yes, this is sorely missing. However, there is something in the works: akonadi and syncevolution.

As for now, I have stopped using kadressbook and kalendar on my ubuntu and use the N900 instead (for the same reason as stated above: the N900 is always there);
While I find kontacts and calendar on the N900 ok, the built in Nokia Todo i find rather substandard and not really usable.
Perhaps it changes in coming releases?
