Hi, I recently had a problem on my N900, all of the sudden it rebooted and then got a message on screen saying: Installing Software Update. Please do not interrupt, and then it keeps rebooting, so I figured out I needed to flash the device, I already have all the tools required, the problem is that I cannot get the phone into usb mode, I tried pressingand holding the U key and connecting the usb, but the usb icon is not showing up in the device, so I cannot flash it, I have tried on Windows 7, Windows XP (both 32bits) and on ubuntu and still cannot get it to work, any idea or suggestion of what to do? (and return it wont work for me cause I didnt bough it on my country) Thanks

i thought it was supposed to be completely off when you ran the flasher? You turn if off and connect it when it says searching for suitable device.

did you try all of this? Just replace the firmware name with the one you are flashing to.

The battery probably isn't charging unless the phone is booted up and happy.. it just looks like it.. seriously..

Best bet is to find someone with an N900, X6, 5800 or 5230 handset and use theirs to charge your battery.. after that, it should respond to the press and hold u trick!
