I'm interested in buying the Nokia n800 in UK but I was waiting (hoping) for the price to come down somewhere near the US price. Nokia are currently selling for £278 +postage. Has anyone else had any luck getting it for less? Also, is it worth waiting for the next OS update that is imminent?

Hi there. A quick search on Kelkoo says "Fone Planet" have it in stock for 259.99 with free delivery. I've never used them though, so don't know what they're like to deal with.

I can tell you that the Nokia UK store seem pretty fast - I ordered around 5pm last Tuesday, with the standard Royal Mail delivery (£4.99). Nokia called me to confirm the details on Wednesday morning, it was dispatched on Wednesday afternoon, and they tried to deliver it on Friday - when I was out. I'm picking it up from the Post Office first thing tomorrow morning!

I think it is possible to patch the device with OS upgrades, so it's not a worry if you buy it now - someone else will confirm I'm sure.

Depends if you've got the cash to spend now, or not. The OS update will have no impact on the price, but should make the N800 more desirable than it is now - you will be able to upgrade the OS yourself (it's *very* easy to do) as long as you have a PC or Mac.

Other than your finances, I see no reason for you to wait until the next OS - get more value for your money by purchasing now, don't wait.
