Hi guys.

Something for the developer community to get their teeth into

Had my 900 for just over 2 weeks now, and can honestly say I'm impressed.
I upgraded from an N95-8GB. One of the features I particularly liked about that handset was the ability to print direct to printer via cable or Bluetooth.
Is there any chance the N900 would be able to do this?

One other thing. The N95 was only capable of printing images via these methods. As we can run Open Office on the N900, what's the possibility of being able to print documents?

I think if you install Easy Debian then you can install CUPS and print from there. I recommend setting up non-hidden symlinks to .documents, .images, .sounds, .videos so you can more easily print from programs like OO.org in easy-debian.

To get started, here's an idea: Port barebones CUPS and cups-pdf so that one could "print" a PDF file that could be printed off on an actual computer later.

well, using easy debian, i installed cups and cups-pdf. with iceweasel/firefox, i had no problems printing to pdf. I just wish all apps had a print option; e.g. mobile firefox.

There's a Brainstorm for this: http://maemo.org/community/brainstor...on_to_the_n900; I would recommend to go and vote for it.
