The usual way of developing Maemo applications is using Scratchbox[1] or MADDE[2], which are quite heavy for Python development.
An alternative is using stdeb[3], a set of extensions to distutils that allows generating Debian packages, both binary and source,
that can be installed on the device or sent to the Maemo extras-devel repository.
This tutorial will show how to integrate it into your project, building the packages and uploading it to extras-devel.
