Setting -->Text input---> Hardware kerbord layout ---->
Is the place, maybe one of the languages have the accepted characters you require.

I know the chances of the package "extkbd" of having a layout will be high. It will mean either buying a bluetooth keyboard and using one.

This is the wiki page:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Remapping_keyboard

But if you aren't comfortable with that then someone might have a turkish keymap for you to insert there.

On top of what independent said...

The above is probably connected to the date/time dialog you get after a battery swap. It also contains a country/locale selection; I wonder if that does not cause the locale settings to be reset to the default.

There are two options. The better of the two is to change your defaults to your preferred layout. Follow independent's link but as he says, it may look a bit scary for a newbie.

The second option is to stop the dialog appearing after a battery swap, but then you will lose the time and will have to set it manually once the phone has started (or install a Sync Clock Now widget to make it a one-click operation). To remove the dialog, uninstall osso-startup-wizard. You will need to use Faster Application Manager or the command line to do that; Hilon Application Manager does hides it as it is a system package.
