Hey,
I'm having troubles with my N900 connecting to my PC correctly.
When I first got it, I would plug the cable into my computer and it would give me two options: PC Suite Mode + Mass Storage Mode.

For some reason, I don't get those options any more, it just starts charging and the Nokia PC Suite says that it's in an incompatible mode -- I'm guessing it's going straight into Mass Storage Mode.

This is really bugging me and I hate the thought of having to re-flash it after all my time spent setting the thing up.

Can anyone help?

A list of applications or tweaks you've made would be helpful.

I disabled the status applet icon for USB, which also removes the prompt. I only charge with the microusb port.

I'm not sure on all of them!

Custom Operator Name
Custom system wide font
Custom SMS and IM layouts

Not many apps installed, i just remembered though, I did install a usb thing a while ago..PC Connectivity Manager or something similar, I uninstalled it since it didn't seem to do anything.

Am I stupid?

try a different computer...or plug in your n900 (while power off) into a computer to see if the computer can detect it. Hope this help.

When the N900 is off, it works in Mass Storage Mode, perfectly, When on, It just charges..Sorry about my bad explanations.

I will try another computer though. Hang On..

EDIT: I've tried it with Linux Mint, Windows 7 and Windows XP with no luck

re-install pc-connectivity-manager and adjust your settings for prompts.

I tried that hawaii, but it didn't do anything. The pc-connectivity-manager doesn't open (I thought that was the idea tbh, i thought it was a daemon).

In the end, I did reflash it and it works now..Just left with re-customising everything

Thanks for all the replies though

It was definitely pc-connectivity-manager, which can cause a raft of problems. I've had exactly the same USB problem. I reinstalled 'manager (and the control panel applet), twiddled with the settings and then deinstalled it when all was back to normal.
If you fiddle too much though, it might break all your networking and audio.
Definitely fixable without a reflash though - sorry nobody with the same problem got here sooner!
