Hi Everyone, I am new here. I just got my N900 this week. I tried to set up gmail account on my N900, but it did't work. I did everything I could and believe me I did read all the related posts on this website.

The error message is "unable to connect to imap.gmail.com. Server name or post number may be incorrect."

So I tried my hotmail account, and still it did not work....

Could anyone tell me which email service provider works on N900? Some posts suggested using nokia messaging, but I don't even see this choice under the service provider column in the email set-up wizard.

I am using the latest updated firmware, 3.2010.02-8. is that the killer?

I was so frustrated now. I love the phone, but the email thing made me cry. Please help me out!!!

check your configuration.
make sure its using imap.gmail.com.
and use SSL authentication.
port number 993

your user name is your login name without gmail.com
ex: tirtawn

outgoing mail server is using smtp.gmail.com
use ssl
and port number 965

The GMail settings are already build in, you don't even need to enter all those things manually...
Same goes for Hotmail by the way....

Also make sure IMAP is enabled in your gmail settings. In your web browser, goto gmail, Under settings->Forwarding and POP/IMAP->IMAP Access: Enable IMAP.
