I'm not very sure about this, but isn't the magnet just to held the kickstand in place? I always thought the camera on/off is controlled by some sort of photo sensor, because i noticed there's a white and black color strip on the lower inner part of the lens cover.
anyways, thanks for the heads up, will keep an eye on that little fella

Mine fell off, noticed it was just glued on with a just few drips of glue.
This magnet controls the camera on/off...
Had to glue it back on, quite easy to lose if it comes off..
