Hello all, this nd post about a problem I am having with my lovely N900.

Since I am using a Vodafone Simcard, it seems the applicationmanager is dead.
I can not download any applications any more, neither update or delete them.

I called Vodafone, they say it has nothing to do with the simcard, whick I doubt.

Nokia says, if I'll do a software update, it will be solved.

But why would it be solved then, if it's a sim-issue?

I seriously do not know what to do now, should I indeed do an update?

P.s. I also can not use the Ovistore anymore. Could there be a link with the applicationmanager?

I appreciate all the answers you can give me, thanks a lot, already!

Hello,

Please see do you have app catalogs and is everything with them OK?

You can search in this forum for right catalogs settings.

Hope this will help.
Regards.

The Vodafone customer service is right i'd think. What do you mean by the application manager is dead? is it not downloading anything or is it just not opening? if it is the latter, i highly doubt your sim card is the problem

Thanks for your reply!

Well, when I open the app manager, it says 'no applications available'
Then, when I open the logbook (don't know the word in english),
it says:

E: could not open lock file /var/lib/apt/lists.new/lock - open (2 No such file or directory)
E: Unable to lock the list directory

And this, while I have checked all the directory's, and everything seems okay. Disabled Extra's and Devel, though.

Well, with dead I mean I still can open it, but it says 'no applications available'
And it keeps saying it, even when I tap 'refresh'

Thanks for your reply, btw!

Check your apn settings then. Maybe someone from NL help you?

Okay, I didn't know that. I'm from The Netherlands, Vodafone The Netherlands. Could it be the in-built settings for apn also are wrong in my country? Would be typical.
