I have a problem on Ubuntu 10.04 (doesn't detect the device).
Solved it by, removing the battery, plugging the USB cable in, executing the command then popping in the battery.

Actually, I put the battery in before trying to flash the emmc with the no-battery method... and I was greeted with a reformatted style screen, with the factory paint splash background, and default time and date settings... I was scared, and turned it off real quick, as I'd always read "DON'T BOOT BETWEEN FLASHING FILES"... oops... now im going to no-battery-flash both files... we'll see what happens :0
P.S. whos laughing now?

I followed instructions from the maemo wiki pages, and a nokia blog write up... Before I tried to flash, I did reboot, press f8, and disabled the 'unrecognized signed signatures' thing...
any other things to try?
