Long time lurker, first time poster: here goes.

Recently I've been getting rather annoyed with the responsiveness of Application Manager and have just been doing things from the command line like I've been used to on my linux boxes.

I think i prefer to see the status of the individual requests of the apt-get update rather than watching a progress bar creep across (or not depending on reception heh).

Now this is perfectly fine for extras* and the other repositories I've added but question is, does application manager do anything special/different for the nokia repositories that anyone knows about? for example is it possible to apt-get upgrade a OTA update?

It might just me being paranoid, but i'd hate to get into dependency hell by not having all the information.

Just looking for a bit of insight into nokia's quirks regarding the repository i guess...

As far as I know, you will encounter problems when you use the terminal apt-get. Using the App manager is recommended.

Encounter problems how? Is the application manager doing more magic than apt-get while installing?

How did these problems affect you?

If you just "apt-get dist-upgrade" when OTA released you'll get all the stuff updated, but meta package won't be installed, therefore on your device info you'll still see an old firmware number.

Another thing is that PR meta package does not check it's required space, instead it asks for a hardcoded free space available, so you might see a stupid thing like: download =1Kb, space needed=40Mb and it refuses to install until you clean up the root.

Other than that no issues while updating PR1.0 > PR 1.1.1

p.s. sometimes you have to use console tools, since AM can't downgrade packages or resolve conflicts automagically which is even worse without seeing apt output.
