I've done 2 tricks to make the phone snappier:
1) Overclock to "ideal" settings
2) MicroSD swap + decrease swappiness
Both are extremely dangerous and require perfect understanding of what you're doing, so I won't describe these in details, however you can always read correspondent threads and wiki entries.
