Hi,

Right this is follow on from another thread i posted,

I have a N900 which I am looking to use as a wifi tablet. However I cant use internal (or SD) mass storage on the device (this means the device is useless as it cant access application areas).

After lots of playing around the following facts are the case:

+ I Have done a reflash of firmware no problem - did not fix the problem.

+ Will not let me reflash EMMC from usb mode (tired vista and xp boxs) "waiting for suitable usb device" is the messege I get. I suspect this is down to the user permissions issue on the storage areas ?

+ File system is visible from the device X terminal screen but the permissions are set to read only.

+ Cant install Rootsh so cant get admin to reset permissions (wont let me install as a user in xterminal) .

+ Usb connected I can see both mass storage and SD card if in on the computer (xp or vista), move folders /files and rename e.t.c.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Cheers,

use flasher to enable r&d mode.. this will let you sudo gainroot..

--enable-rd-mode or something similar

what does running

dmesg | grep mmc

in an xterminal reveal

I doubt that's related - you could try booting from a Linux CD & flashing from there.

Have you tried running a check on the mounted drives?

Right-click on the drive in Explorer, choose Properties, then select the Tools tab and press the "Check now" button (that's in XP anyway, Vista/Win7 may have moved/renamed things).

Code:
flasher-3.5 --enable-rd-mode

Do NOT keep the device in R&D mode unless you actually need it.
