I have my Yahoo & Gmail set up via Nokia conversations.

Is there a way to limit the number of emails stored on the N900 under the emails app to say only the last 1week's communications?

There's nothing under general email settings to change this. The default is 250 emails.

Maybe root access is needed to the email client to change this. Anyone knwo how?

It looks like the only way to delete old emils from the device is to select them individually and delete.
There is no multiple email selection to delete.

Not convenient at all when selecting 200+ emails.

I'm confused as to whether this thread is about the E-mail application, or the Conversations application.

This is about the Email app. The conversations app already has the ability to multi-select and delete.

I can delete multiple messages at once in the E-mail app, using "Delete messages" from the menu. Do you not have that menu item?

I do not have the multi-select option in Nokia Messaging mailbox folders. It is only appearing for mail for exchange folders.

This question is specifically for Nokia messaging. Is there any way to limit the number of emails retrieved/ stored in Nokia Messaging?
