my N900 suddenly wont let me download any apps - it says 'Not Enough Memory In Target Location' when i try to download new apps
& i have checked - there's LOADS of memory left
Help??

Please open up X Terminal, run "df -h /", and post the results.

it says:

Your rootfs is filled up.

Try
sudo gainroot
apt-get install pymaemo-optify
apt-get clean

Also, if you have enabled "Maemo extra-testing" or "Maemo extras-devel", try disabling them from application manager and check.

Lastly check Here

those things you just told me to try, do i need to type them into XTerminal?
or download them?

in Xterminal.
You need to have rootsh install to use "sudo gainroot" command.

i tried all of those in X-Terminal, none of them seemed to work it didnt seem to accept them

Go to application manager;
enable (activate) the extra repository if not already done;
install rootsh;
perhaps you have to remove some apps temporaily to get some free space;
then the commands from above posts will work

^You need to first install rootsh ffrom app manager.
Then open xterm and type this: (press enter) after every line

sudo gainroot
apt-get install pymaemo-optify
apt-get clean
