I use the N900's built-in IM functionality. I use Ovi, Yahoo, AIM, MSN (Haze), Facebook and GoogleTalk. It works perfectly.

But, if I add a new IM field to an existing contact (e.g. a new hotmail. address to y MSN-Haze account), it looks as though it confirms it (i.e. after a few seconds 'IM' appears after MSN Haze and the Offline X appears on the right-hand side).

But nothing is sent to the host server online and the user never appears online or ever received a request to be added (have checked with friends, and had them sit next to me while I'm doing it with them logged in).

I have to add the new contact using the IM host's own method (online or their own app) and then merge the new contact with the existing account when it downloads.

I've also tried adding the new IM field when I'm 'Online' but still no luck.

Any ideas?
