WMV isn't supported on the current N800 operating system, but should be included as part of OS2008 coming soon to the N800.

Some WMV, that is - after all, WMV is a mere container format. Some files encoded with proprietary codecs can only be handled in Linux by wrapped Win-x86 binaries (which won't do on a ARM platform), and all DRM'ed stuff probably won't ever play, at least not with legally includable software.

Are you sure it will be supported by OS2008? If so, when is OS2008 available?

WMV is listed as a supported format in OS2008. As others have said, it's very unlikely that it will play every WMV file though. (ie no DRM, no HD, etc) For answers to questions like these, and countless others, check out the OS2008 forum!

It worked for me using MPlayer and re-saving the files in Windows Movie Maker as "video for pocket PC"

The image quality is a bit pixally and the sound choppy but still viewable to the end.
