What's this garbage about not being able to install Firefox 1.1 RC if I installed 1.0 from the Ovi store. This makes me furious. Someone make this make sense. It is my phone--who or what is stopping me and why???!!!

Just uninstall the Ovi Store version and install 1.1. And 1.1 has been out for a while

I already tried that, thus this post.

I quote from http://starkravingfinkle.org/blog/20...aemo-1-1-rc-1/:

Note to Ovi Store Customers: If you installed Firefox 1.0.x from the Ovi Store, you will not be able to upgrade to Firefox 1.1 RC 1 (either from the N900 Application Manager or by downloading the software from Mozilla). We are working to solve this for future releases so that anyone can participate in our Beta programs.
I removed 1.0 and then went to the Mozilla site and clicked the link for 1.1. But it installed 1.0 again.

Do you have any Mozilla repos?

Better still, have you tried the nightly builds?

No nightly builds. Only the regular install via Ovi. I will remove the repo and try again.

Deleted Firefox again, removed the Mozilla catalog and still when I tried to install 1.1 I got 1.0 instead.
Infuriating.

Just use the nightly builds if you can't wait. The nightly builds are on 2.0 anyway

They said, you can only get 1.1 when it is final.

Or,

you could install 1.0.1 from the mozilla website. Then upgrade it

This seems to indicate that the Ovi store is in some way blocking me from installing. Really seems wrong if this is the case. Anyone with more information?

The following works for me:
  1. uninstall Fennec 1.0.x
  2. disable ovi program cataloge
  3. disable or remove mozilla catalog, NOT "Mozilla multi Beta Catalog"
  4. run as root "apt-get clean all"
  5. run as root "apt-get update"
  6. run as root "apt-get install fennec" - the programmmanager didn't find it
  7. after the installation you can enable the ovi cataloge again

So, this works for me. I also deletet /home/user/.mozilla because i've got some problems with old settings.
