I use Maemo Mapper with my 770 and already had an LD-1W GPS. All I needed was a way to mount the 770 in the car. I didn't need a Navigation kit. I wanted suction cup instead of vent mount and it had to be reasonably priced (~$20).

I searched Google and these forums for car mounts people are using but didn't find anything.

I finally found what I was looking for on eBay. It was only like $15 including shipping from a company called Jabashop. If you go to eBay and search for "Nokia 770 mount" you should find it. It ships from Hong Kong but I got mine after about a week.

It works pretty well and you can even plug it in if you mount it with the 770's case. Otherwise the charger port is covered. I might get my drill out and correct this, though...

This thing's pretty universal. I could use it with my iPod and other Nokia devices.

Is there anything better that's inexpensive?

I use the VG935 from Arkon: http://www.arkon.com/pspmount.php

It's designed for the Sony PSP, so it's a little bit too wide, but grips securely and works a charm.

Callifornia law forbids the use of suction cup devices on windshields.

ok this isn't my ad nor do I endorse this seller but the pictures are good at illustrating what you should look for in a mount.

I bought 2 of these replacing the stupid Arkon ones I had. First of all, the gripping arms spread open independently allowing you to access the ports on a N770. The Arkon ones block the ports or only allow limited access. Secondly, the grip and release mechanism is smooth and relatively quiet. The Arkon one is real "ratchety" and pops open loudly, it just feels cheap. Thirdly, these mounts give you 3 ways of adhering to your dash, suction, vent , and adhesive disc that you can use the suction cup on (a work around for that stupid calif law). Also depending on the model you can have a hinged arm or a goose neck arm. And lastly and least important, there is a clear hinged window to place a picture of your choice. Not sure why that is a feature but hey, it just is. But it is removable and they do give you a rubber pad to replace it. cool huh?
