First of probably a ton of N900 questions. I got mine yesterday (amazon was on their game, it wasn't supposed to arrive until Monday...) I found the app manager, and am transferring a lot of the functionality from my N810, but so far, there's one thing I haven't found...

What is the best GPS app for the N900? I used Maemo Mapper on my N810, but I don't recall seeing it in the app manager. Is there something better?

One other question. I have a set of bluetooth headphones, motorola S9s. Will they play nicely with the N900? I was going to try to use them with the N810, but I remember the discussion that the app that supported the use of bluetooth+remote control would bring the N810 to its knees. Can I do this with the N900?

Maemo Mapper is called Mappero nowadays. I think its one of the best free ones. If you are ready to pay for a good app try Sycig Mobile Maps.

If you mean maps, the native app is pretty good. Just GPS, I use GPSJinny, has display of satellites, lock, precision, and logging. As for alternatives to mapping, I think Mappero is promising.

They might not be in Extras. If you're new to the device, head over to the wiki and see what extras-testing and extras-devel are about before going solo.

Excellent! Found another one I'm gonna miss from the N810: Seqretary. Is that another rename for the N900?

Okay...What am I missing here? I tried to install Mappero, and it said it couldn't install. This is the second app like this, the other being Mirror. The message is:

Code:
Unable to install 'Mappero'
Conflict with application packages: Maemo 5 (2.2009.51-1-002)
Is there a flash image or upgrade that my N900 isn't telling me about? Is there an automagic upgrade? (I thought, now that I think about it, that Nokia released an update sometime in May?)

Thanks,

latest firmware is pr1.2. BTW, a flash may give better results than OTA, or so some say....

I did all my upgrading OTA, no issues.

You need to update to 1.2 (10.2010.19 iirc). Also, if you are on 1.1, you have a different repository, some version might not be up to date.

I recommend upgrading, as many-a-bug has been fixed. Also, portrait browser and better battery.
