Hey all,

I have successfully installed the new firmware today, and I just tried playing Flash video (on youtube) for the first time on this new firmware and it seems extremely laggy and also made my N900 get pretty warm after watching 2 videos (about 8 mins total).. (Due to high CPU use?)

Anyone have the same issue as me?

Anyone have noticed a new issue with this new firmware update?

The reason for me creating this thread is because I want to see if others are experiencing the same problem as I am experiencing so we can take action accordingly (open a new bug?)

Thanks in advance,

P.S.: I have ran into the "Internal error in 'Web' Closing application" a couple of times this morning after I updated but now it seems fine.

P.P.S: The battery also drained pretty fast after I watched the videos (again due to high CPU usage?)

P.P.S(1): I never had any issues playing a flash video before this update.. Definately didn't experience the things that I mentioned up there..

YouTube works very great on my device with the new Firmware.....

Maybe something else was causing the lag on your N900

That's weird.. Well is there some other solution other than reflashing?? I really don't feel like reflashing the firmware then re-download all the apps that I have right now!

That was my second guess, so the new firmware breaks a program that has to do with MicroB somehow?

Go to X-Term and do before test

killall gst-video-thumbnailerd

The sluggish video may be because of bugs 8165 (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8165) or 7147 (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7147)

Vote for it for faster fix.

EDIT: do before test too:

kill `ps | grep mafw-gst-renderer | grep -v grep | cut -f2 -d' '`

(space between two quotes).

Mine was really sluggish after the firmware install. I shutdown and turned phone back on and it was normal after that.

But what's weird is that I never experienced any problem before this last firmware update.. So when I had the firmware 2.2009.51-1 I had 0 problems with flash videos (at least not in youtube)..

Hmmm, I am going to restart my N900 right now and will try it out again.. My phone got restarted before, but maybe restarting it again will do the trick? Not sure.. *Trying right now*

EDIT: Nope unfortunately it's still the same thing.. And my N900 is getting warm pretty fast when watching a flash video... Like it's been now 2 minutes since I started the video and the N900 (going from being cool) is now warmer than usual...

You put a lot of files into N900 since last FW update, right?

True, but what I meant is that even with those files I put on the N900 (on the firmware 2.2009.51-1, with those files) it ran fine.. I didn't experience those problems..

If that doesn't fix - you may need to reflash N900. Last update somebody had a similar problem and it turned out some missed control script in /etc after some installed-and-removed application which got out of control and restart and restart again. It may be the same with flash.

Oh, one more thing - try to remove flash directory from user home. (I don't remember which one... put it later)

EDIT: rm -fr /home/user/.adobe /home/user/.macromedia

EDIT2: rm -fr /home/user/.fmp_pause_thumbnail (and reboot)
