Thanks to all of you who replied.
I found that the mp3 file I tried to install was corrupted.
When it did not work, I assumed mp3 files would not be compatible.
I have since installed a "good" mp3 file, and it works like a charm.

I would like to use then on my N900, but it seems this handset requires .aac files.
I have tried to convert, but no joy.
Any suggestions?
