Hi all! I have a problem and a question to ask

Yesterday I have installed 2 new apps, advanced power and bootscreen. Well advanced power does not work at all and kinda messed up my n900, the app manager didnt work for hours and I couldnt delete it, also n900 started to heat for no reason, while running nothing at all. Tday app manager decided to work back again and I have uninstalled both of the apps. But n900 still stays warm and battery goes down quickly.

I guess advanced power app has changed some setting and this new setting uses cpu alot causing overheating and battery drain. I have uninstalled the app but how do I fix this ???

Thanks

Not trying to hijack the thread but I have, not the same, but a similar problem.
I installed the Panucci audiobook reader and after a while it stopped working. After uninstalling and reinstalling it, it still doesn't work. I'm guess the uninstall still left some files behind.
Where would I find the files so that I could remove them manually?
Thanks

i did not do it with xterm i done it with ssh from my pc i find that the best way if you do it that way then do the following

uninstall advanced poweron your n900

then use ssh to manually remove this file

/etc/event.d/apmonitord and reboot
i believe this is the way to do it using xterm

install midnight commander & rootsh then enter the following in to xterm

open Xterm
Type root
Type mc (MidnightCommander)

go to /etc/event.d/apmonitord

F8= delete

Well when I type
rm /etc/event.d/apmonitord
it says cannot remove '/etc/event.d/apmonitord' : Permission denied,
I guess I need to be root but when I type
sudo gainroot
it says enable RD mode if you want to break your device
What do I do ?

have you got rootsh installed? think thats what you need to do, search rootsh in your app manager on your n900 install it then try again (you also need midnight commander installed)

i am not sure what they are i just had the problem after uninstalling advanced power and found the solutions on this thread

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=60588&page=1

if you download conky you will be able to see if your cpu is still running at 100% when xorg is running if it is not then your problem is sorted
