I'm a newb, so I have no idea what would be required for this, but would it be possible to adapt a version of Stellarium for the n800? Is this something that someone with linux knowledge could do?

Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.

There is an open source linux version available on their site:

http://stellarium.org/

This would be a really cool app to have on the n800 due to its portability. I can imagine driving out to the country with my astronomy binoculars and using Stellarium on the n800 as reference.

Thanks!

There is
maemo-stars: https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_...release_id=298

But be warned, I have not tested it yet.

Could also run kstars if you have KDE installed on your N800.
