is there a way to set up my email on my n900 so that i don't have to go to the main yahoo mail website to check my mail? if yes, please tell me how. thanks.

Just use the default mail client, it should work well enough. If it doesn't, try Nokia Messaging (google)(I'm not sure will this work, haven't tried this myself).

just go to the email app and follow the instructions its rather simple. if you want push (instant) email set up a nokia messaging account to access all of your mail accounts. use power search here for a how-to guide.
