Hello,

My company has just designed a cross-platform mobile application based on HTML5 (JavaScript with local SQLite database) thanks to the Sancha Touch framework http://www.sencha.com/products/touch/

Of course its first targets are iOS and Android...

As Sancha Touch does not support Fennec/5.0 yet, forget Firefox on either N900 or Android. MicroB does not support HTML5 at all. So what option ?

Just found it: Google Chromium
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=33051&page=25
Even it is a raw desktop version compilation it is usable enough to get such applications work.

...Opera? Tried it with www.beatport.com - displaying fine.

Hmm sorry, but "cross-platform" and "HTML5", but then you only want to support iOS and Android.. what's the point then? just make an app!

For some, if something is working on both Android and iOS, its cross-platform

Still, I don't see point of that topic, except as chromium advert? even mentioned application isn't announced here - just link to framework and chromium topic. Spam?

I was wondering this myself because I don't think there's a non-beta browser for maemo5 that's HTML5 compliant. However, you say for N900, not maemo and this little device can run more than just plain ol' maemo5!

Is EasyDebian an option? Firefox 5 (desktop) is HTML5 compliant, AFAIK. And, it is oss so if no armelv7 build exists, you could compile it from source in scratchbox?

Has anyone tried FF5 desktop in ED?

A restriction for running ff-desktop on the N900 is RAM, or lack thereof. It may be possible to compile a light version, I don't know.

Also, have you tried running it on Meego? From what I understand, Meego's web browser is HTML5 compliant.

AFAIK Iceweasel is based on upstream Firefox source codes, and I'm using Iceweasel via ED happily now, even to write this very post

Just for the record.. I use Firefox 6 (beta) both on my N900 as well as at home, and I don't see any problem in it being "beta": it works perfectly.

After all, isn't most of what google does always "beta".. makes it sorta cool I guess
