Hi,

Is there a way to disable the black screen with the "Open lens cover" message after doing a full camera button press when cam is shut? It's particularly annoying since you have to click it away manually by aiming at the top right "x".

Would be better if it was only a notice that went away or if you could just disable it. Even better would be if you could utilize it through shortcutd so instead of showing the message it could actually do something useful with a full press when not in cam mode.

I thought that "black screen" is just the camera app starting up and complaining about the closed lens.
I always thought that bringing up the camera app with the camera button was one of the best features of Nokia cell phone GUIs.

If that is the case then it should be possible to reroute that command so if the cam button is pressed a custom script would run that checked lens status and let the N900 do something useful in case the lens is closed (and otherwise simply call the original cam app).

So anyone know where to change the app that is called when cam button is pressed? Or how to determine whether the lens is open or not?

The cam app already opens automatically when triggering the lens, so assigning the cam button to start the same app is redundant and since hardware buttons are sparse on the N900 it could be put to better use.

Having the button be interecepted when the lens cover is closed would indeed be nice, why don't you make this suggestion to the Shortcutd guy?
