Hi there,

Previous Nokias (back in the old days) contained a hidden "Netmonitor function" which displayed some really interesting information relating to the cell site the handset is connected to, neighbouring cell sites and other bits of information like signal strength. An application was available on my old Symbian phone called CellTrack which offered some of this information.

My questions are:

a) Is anyone aware of any plans to develop an application like this?
b) If not, does the phone actually contain information like this for developers to interrogate?

Thanks in advance

I was expecting more info than that, i already got that one installed, it's good, but i was under the impression the netmon mode on previous Nokias had much more than what that proggie has

It used broadcast messages from the tower to display tower name which is usually where the tower is located. It used to give a vague idea of where you are in pre-gps days. The tower still broadcast that data, on N73 you could see the broadcast messages, on older nokia phones 3300 this could be displayed on the standby screen.

I wonder if there is a way to retrieve this data on N900, I installed all tower data display apps but none showed this data.
