Hi guys..

Its is a very old news that N900 is undoubtedly the best smartphone in the market today. However there are few minor annoying problems, most of which have been solved by this community & many devs.

There are 2minor issues, which I request all the devs & experts on this community to kindly help/solve.

1. While opening default Photos app, it displays all photos including desktop bg & wallpapers. When browsing through the photos it is very annoyng that it even shows wallpapers.

How to set a default photos folder? And how to prevent wallpapers from appearing in Photos without actually deleting them?

2. When we open default media player, in music there is an album called unknown album which has all ringtones & nokia music files in it. If I delete it deletes directly from the device. And most of the time, I prefer playing all songs with shuffle option. But very annoyingly I have to listen to ringtones too.

Hence how to prevent these Nokia Ringtones from appearing in Music & at the same time not deleting it from the device.

Kindly help as I am sure there can be a definite solution to this problem. It is a very minor problem compared to many major problems already solved on this community.

Thanks. Cheers.

Hey All,

I find a solution for this problem, from another site, Thank you Necc for this information.

So the solution:
-Need a WinSPC or any other app for edit a file.
-Just browse the following file: /home/user/.config/tracker/tracker.cfg for edit
-You can find a line with "No watch directory"
-Add your directory for this line for example: you don't want to see the Dowloads directory's content add this line: $HOME/MyDocs/Downloads;
-for the re indexing just type in x-term: tracker-processes -r

After this, you can browse manually those file if you want, but no more seeing in the pictures or mediaplyer.

Reboot the phone, after reboot may take few minutes the re-indexing.

theres an app called trackercfg in the repos that does this (and apparently a lot more) with a gui. also any folder named private shouldn't get indexed, but can still be found under file managers (unlike the . prefix which hides it from everything!)

just remember to restart the tracker (xterm command or trackercfg option) and then expext a long slowdown (depending on how much media you have) while the index is repopulated.

I installed trackercfg app & under Watches in Nowatchdirectory added the foll:

/home/user/MyDocs/.sounds/Ringtones
/home/user/MyDocs/.images

And clicked on Save option & then restart tracker option..

However, after that too Ringtones continue to be shown in Media player & wallpapers in Photos app..

Where am I going wrong, please confirm?

P.s. I even tried the foll. command in x-term:

tracker-processes --hard-reset

However, it still continues to be shown.. Kindly confirm..
