Hello everyone,

I recently switched from n95 to N900. Everything looks to be OK but there are few funtionalities which I wish were there in n900.

The first and most important one is for reminders for the task added in Calendar. I sync my n900 calendar with outlook and I am used to adding a reminder alarm with every task (which I used to do with n95)
but N900 does not have the feature of reminder alarm with tasks.

Also the alarm/ reminder for the events added in calendars are also shown for 1 day before.. That means it will only give me reminder for an event only one day before the event not the way I want like 10 minutes before..

this is really a major funtionality gap for me from n95 to n900.

Does anyone has any idea on how can i have custom 10 minute reminders in events and tasks.
I sync the calendar with outlook for using any other calendar application is not an option unless it syncs with outlook or google.

Please help !

You can use Outlook or Nokia PC Suite (on your PC) to set any alarm interval on appointments and the N900 will honour them. But you can't set them that way in the N900 itself.

NOTE: Nokia's official position told to me by N900 Tech Support is that synchronizing with Outlook is not yet officially (fully) supported on the N900 and that a firmware update this year will fix that.

I set most of my tasks on iCal with custom alarms, such as 15 minutes before, which can't be created on the phone. The tasks sync with N900 and appear in the calendar widget properly, but the alarms only go off on my computer and not on the phone.

I'd like to contribute to this thread!
I've been using n900 with pr1.2 instaled for over a week, and what I cannot fix is the following:
1) it is impossible to set the default task notification time. However, it seems like a feature, not a bug, so let it be
2) After a reboot, all calendar events keep their alarm time that I configured, but all tasks lose notification time that was set before a reboot! It's very annoying!
3) the alarm runs just for 10 seconds or something close. I would like it to run longer - for a minute, for example

Has anyone been able to fix these issues?

I have exactly the same problem. My N900 keeps losing its Task Alarms!

I can confirm that I also have this issue. I tried using both the N900 and private calendars to no avail.

There is a bug report at, https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10599. I suggest you guys should confirm the problem in the bug report as well.

I was very upset to lose the functionality of my calendar alarms! It's the feature I used the most on my N95 8gb. I loved being reminded when I had an event coming up on the day. I knew the N900 came with a calendar - it simply didn't occur to me that this phone would lack such an important feature. It's a big backward step, to me. One of a few.

I tried inputting all of my 'reminder" events via PC Suite, but the alarm didn't sound on the phone (and we know we can't input those things via the N900 itself).

Seriously, this phone has been a huge letdown to me, but then again, I'm not a programmer. Sure, it's great for browsing, but no MMS? Thank goodness for fMMS, is all I can say, or I would've thrown the thing off a bridge! But MMS should've come with the phone! So what's the big deal about this phone, anyway? There are nearly NO apps for it, and Nokia has been just awful in providing info on it or responding to people's queries.

Does anyone know if there's a calendar in the works like the old symbian-based one on the N95 8gb?

I've heard I can change the OS - but to what, and how?

Thanks.
