My widgets disappeared from the workspace. this is the second time it happened, any idea what could be affecting it?

ie, what do you have installed (From what repo's)

How often, any thing you may be doing when it happens? (Ie, after a reboot?)

ah sorry lol

I only use the stable repo. the only thing I ever installed from devel is Drnoksnes. The last thing I installed was an update to safe password.

Edit : I changed my theme and now the widgets are back

So nothing special added, and nothing special happenning....
COuld possibly be a theme problem, but that in itself sounds a bit odd to me

To me It happens after reboot and then MP doesn't want to play. So i remove it from desktop and then adding it back so it would play. And then all my widgets disappear from screen too.

This happened to me too. I was browsing internet for an hour or so, nothing strange there. When i returned to the desktop, all wigdets were gone in every desk. However when i reinstalled them, they all found their original places.

Have powerkernel with 600/900MHz settings.

Now i dropped to upper limit to 850, hope this helps.

But it would be nice to know the root cause....

and they say it's python and Qt scripts don't like each other, and the bad boy would be recaller widget, which i have on my desk too... if this problem returns i will disable recaller...

I also have the recaller widget on my desktop and this seems to happen when I hang up from a phone call (at first it seems to only be when the call waiting display showed up but I just had it happen with a normal call).

When I add the widgets back they go right to the correct place, including widgets like Dr Launch where i have more than one instance of the widget (1 per desktop).

It's annoying to have to add them all again but I'm getting good at it (and the better I get at it, the more annoyed I get at having to do it)

Have you Guys tried desktop activity manager, it will allow you to save different desktop profiles and let you reload the current desktop thus restoring all your widgets and short cuts from the status menu. also works well with multiple desktop set up's
