as in the topic.I try to install the libsdl-ttf2.0 through the xterminal and it says that the file /var/lib/dpkg/lock is locked and system could not open it.also it said it is unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/)and asked if i am root.and how to log as root or do it temporarily.su doesnt work

app manger has a program allowing this

install rootsh from app manager, then type root in xterm to become root. You also need to close app manager before you use apt-get.

It says so because the application manager is in use that time. It probably running in background searching for updates for all your installed apps. This action is not visible to users. I am guessing, you tried to run this either after a reboot or you just then enable internet access. So, if you try running your command line thing after few minutes, it should work.

Serach for "Rootsh" in the apps list. Install it. Once done. From the x-term command line, type "root" or "sudo gainroot" to get access to root mode.
