this could be something! maybe there is a chance that Meego will be saved. more people like him standing behind Meego can onle help the platform!

I say good for him. Now we just need to find a hardware manufacturer that is willing to ship a Meego handset. I wonder who will be the first?

He was the Nokia representative on the two-man MeeGo Technical Steering Group (see http://meego.com/about/governance). In other words, someone pretty high-up in MeeGo.

My name is Valtteri Halla. I am the Nokia member of the currently two-person Technical Steering Group (TSG) of MeeGo. A Nokia old-timer already since '97, I lately used to introduce myself to my Nokia collaegues something like this: I have spent >75% of my Nokia career in bringing Open Source and Linux to Nokia and >50% of my adult life on the same mission. So, I guess I might be a bit biased :-)

I worked as a SW developer in the 90's on Linux and Java and the last 10 years has been mostly about managing open source based SW R&D in various research, project, product and technology management positions with Nokia 770, N800, N810, N900 and maemo.org.
Also, according to qgil it seems he was responsible for some important Maemo hiring.

Lets hope intel start a push into the handset arena and bring devices with great hardware specifications and meego. I dont care of Nokia make the device, I just want to see an open linux (maemo like platform) live on. It is a fantastic platform, it just needs someone to bring it more mainstream and stop treating it as an experiment...
